BHS is working with Peterborough city council and Peterborough Covid-19 coordination Hub to reach out to communities and members of public to offer our donations and support and especially trying to fill the gaps where possible.
A special fund BHS for needy was formed to support various activities undertaken in these difficult times.
Three Donations of various food items have been made to Soup Kitchen Peterborough, which would be used in making food bags for feeding the homeless and needy. BHS volunteers work with Soup Kitchen to identify the required items, source/purchase them and deliver to the store.
A donation was made to the Foodbank, Peterborough which included Tinned long-lasting food, Juices, snacks and supplies that are must-have for needy and vulnerable. The food bank provides days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food for individuals and families.
Not forgetting the wonderful work that is being done by NHS heroes, BHS offered to supply hot vegetarian meals to the staff in Peterborough hospitals. Based on the numbers required fresh hot vegetarian meals are prepared by BHS volunteers within a clean and safe environment with appropriate precautions, packed in individual containers and delivered to the hospitals. The food and gesture have been highly appreciated by the medical and admin staff. So far four deliveries have been made and another two scheduled over next week.
Delivery of dry food items and juices was made to NHS Caveil Centre for the NHS heroes.
In addition to these activities, groceries, Gloves and masks are regularly supplied to various members of community regularly.
In these un-precedent circumstances, it is very important that, everyone knows that help is available for those who need it the most. BHS regularly updates its members about the same and other relevant initiatives, through Facebook page, emails and volunteer contacts.
